Athletics Ireland commits to the Tobacco Free Sport charter

Under the programme, Athletics Ireland has committed to creating tobacco-free sport events at its championships and national events to help improve health and wellbeing and has agreed to play its part in helping to achieve a reduction in smoking prevalence to less than five per cent of the population by 2025. This will be achieved by branding and messaging at national events and by promoting the no-smoking helpline, Quit (www.quit.ie/1800 201 203) to members and through interactive education initiatives with children, young people and sports leaders.
“Athletics Ireland is looking forward to working in partnership with the HSE on this important health initiative, particularly in respect to children and young people,” said Kieron Stout.
