45 YEARS OF RUNNING HISTORY: CELEBRATING THE VISION OF FRANK GREALLY AND IRISH RUNNER MAGAZINE

Frank Greally, founder of Irish Runner Magazine, pictured today at St Helen’s Hotel, Dublin, as Athletics Ireland hosted a special celebration marking 45 years of one of Ireland’s most iconic sporting publications.

Supported by 123.ie and Adidas, the landmark occasion honoured the extraordinary legacy of Irish Runner Magazine — a publication that has inspired generations of runners, celebrated athletes at every level, and provided a trusted voice for Ireland’s vibrant running community.

Irish Runner since 1981 has become a treasured part of Irish sporting history. Across four and a half decades, it has captured the dedication, determination and achievements of countless athletes while helping to nurture and grow the running movement throughout the country.

From grassroots competitors taking their first steps in the sport to elite athletes achieving on the world stage, the magazine has chronicled the stories, struggles and successes that define Irish athletics.

Today, Frank Greally proudly held the very first front cover of Irish Runner Magazine, a reminder of a remarkable journey that began 45 years ago and continues to inspire runners across Ireland and beyond.
