I tested the Brooks Ghost 18 over approximately 80 kilometres, including easy recovery runs, steady-paced training sessions, and a few longer weekend outings. The shoe felt comfortable straight out of the box with no break-in period required. From the first run, the cushioning felt balanced and protective without being overly soft. Whether running on roads, footpaths, or paved park trails, the Ghost 18 provided a stable and predictable experience. While it is not designed for speedwork, it handled moderate pace changes reasonably well and excelled during relaxed daily mileage.
Midsole
The midsole is the highlight of the Ghost 18. Brooks has updated the cushioning to provide a softer and more responsive ride while maintaining the stable feel that Ghost fans appreciate. The foam absorbs impact effectively and creates a smooth transition from heel strike to toe-off. During longer runs, the cushioning remained comfortable and helped reduce fatigue. I found the fit true to size, with sufficient room in the toe box for natural foot movement without feeling loose or sloppy.
Outsole
