Jennings will take her place among the 120 athletes representing 20 federations. The Donegal woman goes into the race as the current European champion after her win in the 50km European Championships in Spain last year in a time of 3:19:42.  At the 2019 50km World Championships, Jennings finished in a superb fifth place with a time of 3:19:50.

In 2022 she finished 3rd in the 100km World Championships in Berlin setting a new Irish women’s record of 7:07:16.

The 100km World Championships incorporated the World Masters 100km with Caitriona taking gold in the O40 category, her time was recently ratified as a new world best performance.

In the lead up to this year’s World Championships Caitriona included a few races as preparation. This included a second place finish in the 50km Canyons Endurance Run by UTMB and a fifth place finish in one of the most competitive Ultra Marathons of them all, the Comrades in South Africa. The Canyons Endurance Run result has earned Caitriona a much sought after golden ticket for the Western States 100 Mile race.

Caitriona will be supported by John O’Regan during the World Championships.
