Irish athletes delivered a series of impressive performances around the world last weekend, excelling across marathon racing, track events, and mountain running. While Peter Lynch made headlines with a landmark run at the TCS London Marathon, a host of others showcased their talent on the international circuit.
Sprinter Lauren Roy of Fast Twitch Athletics was among the standout performers at the Michael Johnson Invitational. She secured second place in the 200m with a time of 23.07 before backing it up with another runner-up finish in the 100m, clocking an impressive 11.08.
On the mountain running scene, Zak Hanna (Newcastle AC) competed in the Mountain Running World Cup event held at the Great Wall of China. He produced a strong run in the elite uphill race, finishing 11th in 24:25, narrowly missing a top-ten placing by just two seconds.
Meanwhile, Ava O’Connor (Tullamore Harriers) impressed on the track at the Drake Relays, taking over five seconds off her personal best in the 3000m steeplechase to record a time of 9:39.85.
