Rhasidat Adeleke marked a strong return to competition on Saturday night, setting a new Irish indoor 300m record at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Competing for the first time since July 2025, the 23-year-old Dubliner stormed to a time of 36.30 seconds, slicing 0.12 seconds off the national mark she originally established in February 2024. The performance earned a second place in a high-quality field.
Running from lane four, Rhasidat produced a powerful finish as she hunted down Stacey-Ann Williams in the closing stages, but the Jamaican held on to claim victory in a personal best 35.92 seconds. British athlete Nicole Yeargin completed the podium in third.
The run continues an upward trajectory following a standout 2024 campaign in which she captured European silver and placed fourth in the Olympic 400m final — and signals that she is already in formidable shape for the season ahead.
