AVA CREAN WITHDRAWS FROM BOSTON MARATHON

AVA CREAN has withdrawn from next Monday’s Boston Marathon after sustaining a running related hip injury. The 20-year-old from Limerick is expected to make a return to competition within the next two to three weeks.

Ava rose to prominence last October at the Irish Life Dublin Marathon, where, at just 19 years of age, she delivered a standout performance by finishing sixth overall in the women’s race. She recorded a time of 2:34:12, improving her previous best by approximately nine minutes.

As the first Irish woman across the line, she also claimed the national marathon title, becoming the youngest Irish athlete in history to achieve the honour.

Wishing the Limerick Lady a smooth recovery and a strong return to racing.
