SKECHERS AERO BURST

The Skechers AERO performance running shoes deliver responsive cushioning, arch support, and style, built to go the distance with speed and comfort in every stride.

Introduction
The Skechers Aero Burst is designed to be a highly cushioned daily trainer aimed at runners who prioritize comfort and durability over outright speed. Positioned as a max-stack road shoe, it features a thick midsole, a stable platform, and a durable outsole designed to handle high mileage. On paper, the Aero Burst promises a protective ride for easy runs and long training days. While Skechers has built a reputation for lightweight performance shoes in the past, this model leans more toward the comfort-focused side of the spectrum.

My testing experience
As a moderately consistent runner logging about 1 to 2 runs per week, I tested the Aero Burst across a mix of easy runs, steady efforts, and high intensity short burst runs. My typical weekly mileage sits somewhere in the 10-15km range, so I’m usually looking for a shoe that feels reliable rather than overly specialised.

Right away, the cushioning stood out. The shoe feels protective and forgiving, especially during slower runs when comfort matters most. On longer runs, the thick midsole helped reduce the impact on my legs, and the wider base added a reassuring level of stability.

That said, the Aero Burst definitely feels more at home at relaxed paces. When I tried to pick up the pace, the weight and softer ride became more noticeable. It’s not sluggish, but it doesn’t feel particularly eager to go faster either. For easy mileage and recovery runs, however, it performs very well.

Midsole
The midsole is the defining feature of the Aero Burst. It uses Skechers’ Hyper Burst cushioning, which delivers a soft and responsive feel underfoot. The stack height is
generous, providing plenty of protection from the road without feeling overly unstable.

There is also a supportive plate integrated into the midsole that adds a bit of structure and helps guide the foot through the stride . It doesn’t provide the aggressive propulsion you might expect from a racing plate, but it does contribute to a smoother transition from heel to toe.

Overall, the midsole focuses more on comfort and consistency than on explosive energy return.

Upper
The upper is made from an engineered mesh that balances breathability with a secure fit. It feels comfortable straight out of the box, with enough structure to hold the foot in place without creating pressure points.

The toe box is moderately roomy, which allows for natural toe splay during longer runs.

Padding around the collar and tongue adds to the overall comfort, making the shoe feel well suited for daily training.

Outsole
The outsole uses Goodyear rubber, which is known for durability and reliable grip. In testing, the traction felt secure on both dry pavement and slightly damp roads. The rubber coverage is fairly extensive, suggesting the shoe should hold up well over many miles.

Verdict
The Skechers Aero Burst is a dependable daily trainer built for comfort and durability. While it isn’t the most exciting or responsive shoe for taster workouts, it excels at easy runs and longer mileage. For runners who want a protective, cushioned option for everyday training, the Aero Burst is a solid choice.
