Sharlene Mawdsley continued her remarkable run of form by smashing her 400m personal best for the third time this season with a stunning performance at the FBK Games in the Netherlands.
The 27-year-old Newport AC athlete clocked an impressive 50.14 seconds at the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting, moving within touching distance of the coveted 50-second mark.
Sharlene finished runner-up in a thrilling contest, narrowly behind Egypt’s Bassant Hemida, who won in 50.10 seconds, while Dutch star Lieke Klaver crossed the line in third.
The latest breakthrough adds to what has already been an exceptional season for Sharlene, who continues to establish herself among Europe’s elite one-lap runners.
